In 2018, I began to photograph the lives of two formally incarcerated women in Philadelphia.
They left prison and returned to the same neighborhoods, friends and families that led them to trouble in the first place. But also these familiar people and places can lead to stabilty and hope.
Linda and Concetta’s lives are filled with daily frustrations and complications; illnesses and hard streets; never enough money and always a need for a repair, a down payment, or carfare. I have seen both women offer what little they have to family & friends. How do they survive? It’s complicated.
