In 2018, I began to photograph the lives of two formally incarcerated women in Philadelphia: Concetta and Linda
Concetta and Linda have been out for 5 years and 15 months, respectively. They return to their neighborhoods: to the temptations of the streets and familiar patterns.
Linda and Concetta’s lives are filled with daily frustrations and complications; illnesses and hard streets; never enough money and always a need for a repair, a down payment, or carfare. I have seen both women offer what little they have to family & friends. How do they survive? It’s complicated.
